  • Realme is soon going to launch its Realme 9 Pro series in India. The Realme 9Pro and the Realme 9 Pro Plus might release in the country sometime in February 2022. The pricing details of the Pro plus variant, which is the top-end model, have also leaked online. Let’s take a look at the latest teaser confirmed by the company for the phone:

Today, Madhav Sheth, CEO of Realme India, announced on Twitter that the upcoming 9 Pro-series phone will use an optical sensor on the screen. This is to measure users’ heart rate patterns. In a short clip posted on Twitter, Sheth revealed the Realme 9 Pro Plus will support heart rate readings recorded through the phone into the Health section of the Realme Link app.

Realme 9 Pro Plus heart rate tracking can be done by placing the finger on the fingerprint scanner until it shows the heartbeat. There’s also a history tab on the tool which will keep track of the previously recorded heart rate readings. This should be a segment-first feature and should be useful in keeping tabs on the heartbeat.

To those unaware, heart rate sensors on smartphones is not a new technology. Samsung used to equip its flagship phones with heart rate sensors some years back. However, with smartwatches and fitness bands becoming more popular, it became useless for phones. But let us look at some of the specs we know of the smartphone, in the meanwhile.
