According to a report, Indian telecom operators may hike tariffs by 10–20% by December 2025. If implemented, this would mark the fourth significant price increase in six years.

The most recent hike occurred in July 2024, when telecom companies raised rates by up to 25%. The anticipated increase is driven by growing capital requirements as operators invest heavily in 4G upgrades and 5G rollout.
Furthermore, the report projects that both Airtel and Jio could see mid to high-teen revenue growth between 2025 and 2027, driven by consistent subscriber gains and robust growth in Average Revenue per User (ARPU). Instead of relying solely on acquiring new customers, the telecom giants are also expected to boost revenue by extracting greater value from their existing user base.

The latest reports forecast a 15% tariff hike in December 2025, with annual increases likely to continue through 2033. While tariff hikes are expected to become more frequent, they may be smaller in scale compared to those seen between 2019 and 2025. These incremental hikes could enable telecom operators to achieve a 10% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) in tariffs.
