Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 5G Design and Build

Xiaomi Redmi Note 14The Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 5G has a great design, but the sizes are the same in both models. This gadget is lightweight, thin, and easy to hold. It comes in four colours: White, Black, Gold, and Teal.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 5G Long Term Review: DesignThe minimal bezels allow for a more extensive and more profound experience of the display, while the IP54 certification provides better splash protection, but its upgraded model has an IP64 certification. There’s also Gorilla Glass 3 on the front that protects the device from scratches.

There is also an IR blaster, which is a nice little addition. It is fine that Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 5G has some major upgrades in design. But, in general, it’s a well-executed design that feels premium while fairly priced.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 5G Camera

Now, let’s do the Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 5G long term review of its cameras. It has a 108MP + 8MP + 2MP sensor and gives astonishing pictures, but it is nothing too remarkable. The details are there, but such aspects as dynamic range, colour accuracy, and highlight retention are lacking. But at this price range, its camera results are decent compared to those of its newer model.Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 5G Long Term Review: CameraDuring the day, you can take decent images; portraits are average, although some colours may appear off. At night, the primary sensor pretty much does an excellent job of enhancing scenes, but I wouldn’t recommend using Night Mode as it tends to overdo the colours too much.

It also has a 16MP front camera, offering decent images; after clicking, you see some grains in the image result. At night, its performance is also not eye-catching.

For video, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 5G supports 1080p at 60 FPS, which is decent for this budget. Unfortunately, there is no form of stabilization, so if it is in motion whilst filming, it becomes shaky. Overall, I would say the camera is right for social media photos but do not expect top-level quality.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 5G Battery and Charging

Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 5G offers excellent battery life on a single charge. It comes with a 5000mAh battery, you can easily get a full day of moderate use, and if you’re just scrolling through feeds, it might last even longer. You can get around 6-7 hours of screen-on time, which is pretty solid.

As for charging, you get 33W fast charging, which takes it from 0 to around 60 per cent in half an hour and fully charges in just over an hour. So, I think this is enough for any phone in this price range. So, I would say the Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 long-term review is excellent in the battery segment.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 5G Display

Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 5G features a 6.67-inch display with a 120Hz and AMOLED panel. Its newer model comes with an OLED panel with the same display size. The peak brightness of 1000 nits allows decent visibility in outdoor conditions. Movies, shows, and anime – forget how well it looks; everything is smooth. This phone also has a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 display, giving extra protection during accidental falls.

However, two things feel like a bit of a letdown. First, the phone lacks HDR video support, available on the Xiaomi Redmi Note 14. Second, it doesn’t come with stereo speakers, which would’ve really enhanced the viewing experience. This feels like a miss in this price range since competing phones like the Poco X6 do offer better audio quality.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 5G Performance

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 5G runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 6080 (6 nm) chipset, which is actually a rebranded Dimensity 810. It’s a step up from the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 found in the Xiaomi Redmi Note 12, and you’ll notice the difference in gaming and daily use. But, Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 has few steps in performance with MediaTek Dimensity 7025 Ultra (6 nm) chipset. However, the Redmi Note 13 chipset is still better for performing daily tasks perfectly.

In games like PUBG and Call of Duty, you can expect stable 40 to 60 FPS, and the device doesn’t heat up too much, which is impressive for this segment. But if you play it for a long time, the performance does take a hit, and the phone heats up a bit.

You will get four types of storage and RAM variants like 128GB storage 6GB RAM, 256GB storage 8GB RAM, 256GB storage 12GB RAM and 512GB storage 12GB RAM. However, it has a UFS 2.2 type storage, which is quite average but the same in newer models, too.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 5G Software and UI

Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 5G has a HyperOS that operates on Android 13. Personally, I’m saying HyperOS is a decent option with evolving UI over time. It is feature-rich and usually fluid but contains a lot of ads and unnecessary bloatware. You can delete most of these installed for your convenience and disable ad settings, yet it is still an inconvenience that should not have surfaced in the first instance.

Don’t forget about the update issue, too. Xiaomi has promised the latest software up to Android 15, which can put off those who prefer frequent updates. So, this is good in this phone. However, there is no clarification on the Android 16 upgrade for this phone. In general, the software is adequate, with the understanding that the user is fine with the Xiaomi family of products, but if somebody is accustomed to a minimalistic design, it is better to find other products.

Verdict

rSo, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 is an exciting device after its launch over a year ago. You get a stylish design, a vibrant display, decent performance, and great battery life. The camera is okay for casual use, but it should have a better performance and an OIS feature for video recording. I think its biggest drawbacks are the lack of stereo speakers, HDR support, and the somewhat cluttered software experience. But these things have been done in Xiaomi Redmi Note 14, which is going to launch in India soon and has already launched in China.

If you’re looking for a balanced mid-range phone under 15,000 rupees, the Redmi Note 13 5G is a solid choice. However, there are a few more options like iQOO Z9x, POCO M6 Plus, CMF Phone 1, Xiaomi Redmi 13 5G, vivo T3x, realme Narzo N65 5G, etc. You can compare these phone features before buying. I hope you like my Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 5G long term review.
