Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus Design And Build
Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus has a fresh design compared to the Note 13 series, and I have the black variant for review. You get a massive squircle camera module on the back, similar to the iQOO 13, that houses the triple camera setup and LED flash. It is also available in Green and Purple colour options.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus weighs 210 grams, and I did not face any issues holding it during my review. Despite the massive 6,200mAh battery, it is slim at 8.7mm. It is the first phone in the series with an IP68 rating, although the Indian variant lacks the IP69 rating found on the Chinese variant.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus Camera
Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus sports a triple camera setup on the back. It has a 50-megapixel OmniVision LYT-800 primary camera, an 8-megapixel Sony IMX355 and a 50-megapixel Samsung JN1 sensor. On the front, you get a 20-megapixel selfie camera.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus captured good photos in the day, and I enjoyed using the phone during my review. It is the first phone in the Note series with a telephoto lens. Speaking of the telephoto sensor, it can zoom up to 2.5x and take decent shots.

The 8-megapixel ultrawide angle sensor is the weakest of the three, with a noticeable dip in quality and colour grading. Hopefully, Xiaomi can fix it in future updates and support.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus Battery And Charging
Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus packs the biggest battery ever on a Note series device. It has a massive 6,200mAh battery can easily last two days on a single charge. Unlike Realme, Xiaomi has not cut down the battery size on its smartphone due to “regulatory hurdles,” so it deserves some appreciation.

Thanks to the 90W charger in the box, I was able to charge my Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus to 100 per cent in just 1 hour during my review.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus Display
Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus offers one of the best displays on a Note series phone, and I had plenty of fun using it during my review. It has a 6.67-inch 1.5K curved AMOLED panel with a centre punch hole cutout and slim bezels. The company claims it is the first phone in its segment to use Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 for protection.

The screen is also the brightest on a Note series, with a peak brightness of 3000 nits. I did not face any legibility issues outdoors, and the display is pretty sharp for content consumption as you get Dolby Vision and HDR10+ support. The 120Hz refresh rate also results in a smooth scrolling experience.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus Performance
Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 processor (not to be confused with the more powerful Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3). Confusing names aside, it is based on a 4nm process and is the first phone in the country to use this chipset. I have the 8GB+128GB variant of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus for review.
It kept most of the apps in memory during my usage, and the phone remained smooth for day-to-day tasks. The base variant has UFS 2.2 storage and LPDDR4X RAM compared to UFS 3.1 and LPDDR5 on the top-end variant.

You can play games like BGMI at Smooth and Extreme (60 FPS) and CODM at Max and Max (60 FPS). Sadly, it doesn’t break past the 60 FPS barrier in both games, which is disappointing.

Regarding benchmarks, the Redmi Note 14 Pro+ scores 722815 in the AnTuTu benchmark, which is average at best. Furthermore, the phone scores were 1154 for the single-core benchmark and 3175 for the multi-core benchmark. While it doesn’t throttle in the 15-minute CPU throttling test, the GIP score isn’t groundbreaking.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus Software And UI
Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus runs on HyperOS based on Android 14 out of the box. While the company does promise three years of OS updates, it is disappointing to see a phone release with Android 14 at the end of 2024. Technically, you have only two OS updates since Android 15 was released several months ago.

You get the typical HyperOS features, including lock screen customization, redesigned control centre, smoother app animations and more. There are over 20 AI features with AiMi, including AI call translation, AI subtitles, AI object eraser, AI image expansion, and more. You also get Circle To Search on the Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus, which I found pretty handy during my review.
Xiaomi has made some noticeable improvements with the Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus this year. You get an improved design, better cameras with a telephoto lens and a massive 6,200mAh battery. However, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 has mediocre performance compared to the competition, and the Indian variant lacks the IP69 certification.
Since Xiaomi is focusing more on the offline market with the Note series, there is no doubt that it will sell like hotcakes in the sub-30 K segment. However, if you are an online-only user, then there are much better options available, such as the Motorola Moto Edge 50 Pro and the OnePlus Nord 4 .
