OnePlus Mobile Phones
A long way from being a small brand, OnePlus has surpassed to become one of the leading firms in the smartphone world since its beginning in 2013. The idea is to produce a high-quality phone at an affordable price comparable with that of big brands like Samsung and Apple.
A subsidiary of Oppo, OnePlus has risen to new heights in the smartphone market in the past few years. Founded by Pete Lau and Carl Pei on 16 December 2013, they aimed to develop a high-end flagship Android smartphone. OnePlus started its journey in 2014 by unveiling the OnePlus One, so-called “2014 Flagship Killer.” The phone had quite great specs for the whole pack – a 5.5-inch display and a Snapdragon 801 processor. However, of course, it did not have Cyanogen OS, which tech geeks loved, but it had some bugs.
The company has seen a lot of ups and downs, but it has always gained devoted fans. It’s almost ten years since OnePlus mobile phone entered the Indian market. And now, it’s the no. 1 premium Android smartphone manufacturer in India. The brand entered the Indian market as the want for a premium mobile phone with affordable pricing increased. In 2014, the company launched its first-ever smartphone, OnePlus One, and it gained popularity soon. What made its entry unique was the purchasing. One could only buy OnePlus One via invites, making it very unique. With its success, the brand opened sales for consumers to buy the OnePlus One.
After this successful launch in 2014, it did have a bit of a downfall but rose up high again with OnePlus 3. But it came with a catch. Up until then, the pricing for the OnePlus mobile phone remained under 20,000 INR. OnePlus 3 crossed the 30k INR mark for the first time ever. But even then, it gained devoted fans due to its OxygenOS and flagship specs. However, every year, as the RAM kept increasing, so did the price gradually.
As more phones launched, so did the OnePlus mobile phone price. But it kept gaining market share by setting new trends in smartphone design. Moreover, OnePlus continued to break norms for the smartphone industry by forcing major brands to make flagship-like smartphones at a comfortable price.
Of course, as the company grew it now sells in European as well as American counterpart countries such as Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, UK, USA and so many more.
By 2019, the brand OnePlus had already marked itself as a premium smartphone with a premium price of almost 60K INR. Sometimes even higher. However, OnePlus then brought a series namely Nord, marketing it as affordable mid-range smartphones. In 2022~2023, OnePlus is still actively producing affordable phones, with the latest being the OnePlus 10T and the OnePlus 11 series, expected to launch in India soon.
Every year, they keep improving themselves both in terms of hardware upgrades and terrific software optimization. However, the price hike for each line-up is making people concerned.
The OnePlus’s software has, for the last several years, been joined by Oppo’s in ColorOS, which helped to make updates flow seamlessly. From 2022 through 2024, OnePlus continued to release its new series, such as the OnePlus 9 series and even the OnePlus 10T, refocusing on improving cameras and fast charging. The company has also expanded its product line to include smartwatches and earbuds.
