Ever since Xbox Series S was launched, it was the subject of a good deal of speculation whether it was a capable next-gen console or not. The entire gaming community doubted it and wondered if it would be popular and appeal to gamers. However, with all the speculation, Xbox Series S garnered enough support and came out to be moderately successful in terms of sales. Surprisingly, Series S kept up with Series X in terms of sales.

Sony and Microsoft are offering consoles with a non-disc drive variant. This significantly reduces the price and isn’t something that players miss out on. With this argument, Microsoft is planning to release a disc version of the Xbox Series S. This speculation is reported to come from the cover art of the upcoming Saints Row reboot, and the physical edition covers of the games sporting an “Xbox Series S” label.
The “Criminal Customs Edition”, as well as the “Notorious Edition” are versions of Saints Row that come with a disc with the latter also containing a steelbook. Usually, the disc version of the box-art only mentions the Series X and One and not Series S.

Saints Row Hints at Xbox Series S
Saints Row is slated for release on February 25, 2022 and has the mention of Xbox Series S. Thus giving enough time for Microsoft to release another variant of their console. Sony has recently unveiled their new PS5 design, which is 300 grams lighter than the original version. While it isn’t a new console, per se, perhaps Xbox might also be looking to release a variant soon.
The major appeal of the Series S comes from its highly appealing price, which is significantly more affordable than the Series X, and with the inclusion of the disc drive – one can only expect that price to go up. There has been no official announcement from Microsoft yet on the possibility of Series S.
