Fitbit is looking forward to releasing a snore and noise detection feature in the near future, which will help identify snoring while sleeping. According to the company’s official website, this feature simply uses the microphone on the Fitbit gear to track the sounds in your sleep surroundings and show you data the next morning.
The function is currently unavailable to a large percentage of users. According to 9to5Google, it may be found in version 3.42 of the Fitbit app.
“The feature is not intended as a substitute for medical diagnosis or treatment; you should always see your physician or health care provider about any health issues,” according to a disclaimer from Fitbit.

Snore detection isn’t currently available, but it’s pretty clear that it’ll be limited to Fitbit devices that have microphones. It’s more than likely to be offered in the Versa 2, and Versa 3, Fitbit Sense, which all have mics for Alexa and Google Assistant voice control.
How Does This New Fitbit Feature Work?
9to5Google has released several screenshots of the feature to demonstrate how it works. When a user goes to sleep, the device recognizes it and then listens to surrounding noise, including probable snoring. It can identify snores from you or anyone nearby, but it didn’t determine who’s snoring, so the outcome may alter if your spouse snores as well.
Fitbit’s device detects ambient noise and analyses the data to determine a baseline noise level. It primarily tries to locate snore-specific noises and then identify whether or not the person is snoring.

Sleep Tight
Snore detectors aren’t exclusive to Fitbit; certain sleep monitors can already detect whether or not you’re snoring at night. For instance, the Withings Sleep Analyzer is a thin pad that sits beneath your mattress and has a sensitive microphone that records snoring sessions, how long they persist, and any aspects that may influence them (for example, how late you slept).
