Apple has launched the Apple iPhone 15 series, and the new lineup will be available for sale from September 22. These new iPhone models will arrive with the iOS 17 update, which brings various new features and improvements. One such feature is the ability to improve battery health on iPhone 15 models by limiting the charging percentage.
iPhone 15 Charge Limit Feature
According to a report by 9to5Mac, Apple is working on a new feature that will allow users to limit the charging percentage on their iPhone’s battery. This new functionality was discovered in the iOS 17 Release Candidate code available to beta testers.

This feature will allow you to preserve your battery by setting a limit on the maximum charge capacity. Users will receive a message when turned on.”iPhone will only charge to about X%”. Comparatively, when you turn it off, it will show “iPhone will charge to its full capacity”. The feature will be available within the battery menu of the settings.
This New Feature Will Preserve Your iPhone 15 Battery Health
It works similarly to Optimized Battery Charging, which learns your charging habits and optimizes the charging speed. This charges your phone up to 80 per cent and then trickles it up to 100 per cent when you usually unplug your iPhone. However, a major difference is that the new feature will limit the charging to a certain percentage.

Samsung offers a similar feature on its Galaxy phones to help preserve battery longevity. Charging your phone to 100 per cent is likely to degrade the battery faster, so limiting the maximum charging percentage can help prolong the battery’s health.
iPhone 14 users have complained in the past about their battery capacity degrading quickly, and Apple is trying to address their concerns with this new feature. There is no information on whether Apple will limit the feature to the iPhone 15 series or make it available across all iPhones running on iOS 17. Currently, it is unavailable on iPhone 14 models, which means only new iPhones with USB-C could have it.
