Xiaomi Foldable Phone With Huge Crease In The Middle Spotted In Live Images

Samsung, Huawei, and Motorola are already in the market for foldable smartphones. Now, it looks like Xiaomi is also working on the foldable smartphone range for quite some time now. Moreover, according to reports, the company reportedly in the final legs of launching a new foldable phone in the market.

Leaks on Xiaomi Foldable

As per reports coming out of China, a new Xiaomi foldable device spotted in the hands of a user inside a subway in China. It looks quite similar to the one that comes from Xiaomi’s VP a few years ago. However, this one appears to bring with itself a bigger display than the one before.

A (now deleted) Weibo post showcases what appears to be a Xiaomi-branded foldable out in the wild. The mystery device has a large crease running through the middle. Additionally, Xiaomi is working on a Huawei Mate X-like foldable too.

The images above suggest that it is on some version of MIUI 12 and has 256GB of internal storage. Its heavy outer shell indicates that it is an early prototype of the device. Moreover, it appears in a cover by a protective casing.

In addition, there are rumors that Xiaomi foldable phones will use UTG (ultra-thin flexible glass) technology from Samsung. Apart from this, the images also show the phone could be quite bulky even when folded. A prototype out in the wild usually indicates that the product is in its final stages of development. Foldables usually come with top-of-the-line hardware.

We can expect this device to come with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset, at the very least. The best part is, Xiaomi reportedly has three different types of foldable smartphone designs in the works; external fold, internal fold, and clamshell.
