  • Is Wordle running on Game Boy? Over the last six weeks, Wordle has swept the globe. Simply put, Wordle is a free and easy-to-use web browser-based word game that’s fun for everyone. For example, you can only play a five-letter word guessing game once a day. However, it gives you six chances to get it right. In addition, only one word is out each day, and it’s the same word for everyone.

Most developers have churned out Wordle clones and removed them from the App Store and Play Store. But Twitter user ghidraninja, a highly intrepid modder, went one step further and created a Wordle game for the Game Boy. Unfortunately, most people don’t consider when designing homages to run on decades-old machines.

Thanks to their successful project, you can now play Ghidraninja’s version of Wordle on a Game Boy original. One can play the Game Boy version of the browser game without the classic handheld console. Or even the ROM can be downloaded and fired upon an actual Game Boy using a flash cart. The Game Boy version of Wordle looks cool, but ghidraninja admits it doesn’t have as many words as the original version.

Because “real” words were too much for them, they confess. “Instead, I’m using a bloom filter to see if a managed to enter word is among the 8000 most familiar English words. Also, with an embarrassingly large error rate.”

Even with such an enormous mistake margin, those of you who want to finish your daily Wordle right away after waking up and now have to wait 24 hours before playing it again may consider it a minor price to pay.

The most incredible thing about this edition is that it doesn’t have a daily cap on the number of puzzles you may do, unlike the word game. Instead, the mystery will revert to the next word in the problem when you win or lose a word.

At the very least, someone enjoyed themselves over the weekend!
