Starting November 1, 2021, WhatsApp will stop working on certain devices. Basically, the messaging app will stop supporting Android and iOS phones with older OSs. According to its website, WhatsApp will drop support for Android smartphones running on systems older than Android 4.1. Moreover, it states that the reason for the termination of services on these smartphones is that the instant messaging app will no longer support older versions of Android and iOS. They cannot ensure that the security of the app and the privacy of users will maintain.
However, anyone with a smartphone supporting Android OS 4.1 and above. Whereas, iOS 10 and above will be the only ones who will be able to use the messaging app. You can also head to the WhatsApp FAQ section to check the list of operating systems that won’t run WhatsApp.

The Android and iOS users can check the software version they are using by going to the mobile phone settings. The operating system that will not support the app is Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich, iOS 9, and KaiOS 2.5.0. Simply, open your phone’s Settings app. Scroll to the bottom, tap System. Click on Advanced Go to System update.. See your “Android version” and “Security patch level”.
To find the software version installed on your device, go to Settings > General, then tap About. You’ll see all the information about your device, including the version of your iOS device. Here is a list of smartphones on which WhatsApp will stop working starting from November 1, 2021.

What happens to your WhatsApp if you are on an unsupported system?
If your phone doesn’t meet the above-mentioned requirements post-November 1, your account may be automatically logged out. You may not be able to log in again from the now unsupported device. WhatsApp also mentions on its website that if you’re moving from an older KaiOS based device to another smartphone platform, there is no way to retrieve your chat history.
