With the E3 being cancelled this year, all eyes are on the Summer Game Fest 2022. The company website has made the announcement that the event will kick off in June this year. The event will be hosted and produced by Geoff Keighley and has become a major event in the gaming calendar. Many major AAA-rated titles as well as major indie games are revealed at this event.
The popularity of the Summer Game Fest has been growing since it started back in 2020. The 2021 event included both PlayStation as well as Xbox and continued for 2 months. It even included a special State of Play in July.

In a tweet, Geoff Keighley makes us anticipate what we can expect during the event. It will include many announcements and first-looks and we cannot contain our excitement.
Summer Game Fest 2022 to Kick Off in June
The Kickoff Show will be hosted by Geoff Keighley and it will feature World Premieres and several appearances from popular indie devs like Double Fine. Though the exact dates for the event has not revealed, the tweet confirms that it will kickoff in June.

We can expect updates and announcements from major publishers and developers like the much-anticipated Xbox exclusive Starfield and God of War Ragnarok. Announcements regarding indie titles from developers may not be much less of a surprise. With their unique offerings, indie hits have made quite a name for themselves.
Many people from the gaming community feel that the E3 event has lost its appeal, with so many developers and companies choosing to skip it. In 2019, Sony Interactive Entertainment had announced its absence at the E3 event. Ever since, PlayStation has not been present in any of the iterations of the event.

One of the reasons for this is because many platforms have started their own livestream events to showcase titles. The PlayStation Showcase, Nintendo Direct, or Sony State of Play are common examples. This has led to the loss of popularity of the E3 event, and all eyes are now on the Summer Game Fest.
Xbox continues to be a mainstay at E3. We expect to see them in the 2023, in-person, iteration of the expo. However, we cannot say anything for sure.
