OpenAI, the company behind the popular AI tool, has announced it is temporarily pausing new signups for the ChatGPT Plus subscription. CEO Sam Altman posted on X (Formerly Twitter) that it is pausing the signups due to overwhelming demand.

Sam Altman, the CEO of Open AI, announced on X that the company is pausing new signups for ChatGPT Plus due to excessive demand. The surge in demand has exceeded the capacity of OpenAI, and to ensure “everyone has a great experience, it is pausing new signups.

It plans to notify users within the app when ChatGPT Plus becomes available for signup. According to previous statistics shared by OpenAI, around 100 million users use its services weekly, including over 90 per cent of Fortune 500 business owners.

ChatGPT also recently faced a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack, which also caused outages in its service. The motive and source of the attack is currently under investigation.

The company recently announced its GPT 4 Turbo model, allowing users to create their own version of ChatGPT. With just a few prompts, the new GPT Builder can help you make your own chatbot.
It is available for all GPT Plus subscribers and enterprise users. This could be one of the reasons behind the increasing number of new signups for ChatGPT Plus.

OpenAI will also introduce its GPT store later this month, allowing users to share their custom ChatGPT with others and monetise it. Initially, it will feature chatbots from verified builders with leaderboard and search, helping you to find the chatbot of your dreams.
