India’s state-run telecom operator, BSNL, plans to bring 5G services to users soon. The company will launch 5G after stabilizing its 4G network. Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia shared this update, saying BSNL is working hard to meet quality standards. With 90,000 4G towers already installed, BSNL aims to reach 100,000 by July 2025. BSNL To Launch 5G After 4G Stabilization
BSNL will switch to 5G only when its 4G network is fully ready. Scindia said, “Moving from 4G to 5G is not hard, but we need a stable 4G first.” Currently, 76,000 of the 90,000 4G towers are active. The goal is to have 100,000 towers by July 2025. The 5G rollout will start with 100,000 subscribers. It will focus on 5G Standalone services and Fixed Wireless Access (FWA). BSNL has tested its 5G technology in Delhi at places like Nehru Place, Chanakyapuri, and Minto Road. These tests, done with the Center for Development of Telematics (C-DOT), used Indian-made equipment.

Using Only Indian Technology
BSNL to launch 5G using fully indigenous technology. Scindia emphasized, “We have our own core and RAN. No foreign tech will be used.” Companies like Tejas Networks, Lekha Wireless, and Galore Network are helping with the 5G rollout in Delhi. They will set up 1,876 sites in the capital. BSNL’s 5G will use the 900 MHz and 3.3 GHz bands. This move supports India’s goal to be a global leader in telecom tech. Scindia said India’s 4G and 5G tech is ready for export.
