The iPhone SE (2022) was unveiled recently at the Apple event. Although, its outdated look may not be a deal-breaker in today’s market. But, it does have a 5G connection. This assures that anyone purchasing Apple’s ‘cheap’ iPhone will not have to update their phone within a year owing to the lack of the most recent networking standard. However, as per the reports released after its launch the iPhone SE (2022) will not include a mmWave 5G connection.
Further sources have subsequently confirmed that the freshly revealed iPad Air 5, which for the first time includes an M1 chip, does not integrate mmWave 5G. This is a break from Apple’s previous usual policies, which saw the iPhone 13 range support all five 5G bands. However, the new iPhone SE and iPad Air will not have compatibility with all 5G networks around the world.

New iPhone SE, iPad Air do not support mmWave 5G
The mmWave 5G network is one of two 5G networks, along with the sub-6GHz network, that makes up the newest generation of commercial mobile communication. While mmWave 5G networks are thought to be the best in terms of attaining the maximum bandwidths and, as a result, can give the fastest network connectivity speeds of any 5G network on the planet. When commercially available, India is also likely to roll out mmWave 5G connectivity.

However, the new iPhone SE and iPad Air will be unable to connect to the world’s fastest 5G networks at least for the time being. Although, it’s worth noting that mmWave 5G networks have only seen limited adoption globally. So while the iPhone SE has a visible limitation, it’s not completely crippling. To put it another way, consumers who buy the new affordable iPhone will still receive 5G, but not the quickest. In India, the smartphone starts at Rs 43,900 and comes with a 64GB internal storage option.
