  • According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple has modified its plan for iOS 17 later in the development process to include numerous new features, hinting that the impending version may be more crucial than previously assumed. In a previous edition of his Power On newsletter, Gurman stated that iOS 17 would likely focus on increasing efficiency and bug fixes rather than adding new capabilities. Still, it will now include some interesting new features.

In January, Gurman stated that iOS 17, which will most likely be featured at the forthcoming Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June, may not be as valuable as other iPhone updates because Apple is focusing more on its mixed-reality headset.

According to Gurman, when Apple first began working on iOS 17, the intention was to name it a “tuneup version”. That was on fixing bugs and increasing efficiency rather than adding new features. The goal was to avoid the problems that dogged iOS 16, an ambitious release marked by missed deadlines and a rocky start. The plan, however, was changed later in the development process.

Even if it lacks a significant upgrade like last year’s new lock screen, the iOS 17 release will likely feature several “good to have” upgrades. The program, dubbed “Dawn,” attempts to fulfill some of the “most often popular features” of users.

According to sources, the next upgrade may include a next-generation CarPlay experience, Siri adjustments, and competing app stores. Furthermore, It will provide compatibility with Apple’s mixed-reality headset and other enhancements and new capabilities.

However, Apple may be approaching the completion of its long-awaited mixed reality headgear. According to a recent rumor, it might debut at the WWDC event and begin retailing in Fall 2023.  It will likely cost up to USD 3,000. (Rs 2,46,650).
