Apple Watch Series 9 And Ultra 2nd Gen Will Have This New Chip

Apple will unveil the Apple Watch Series 9 and the Apple Watch Ultra (2nd Gen) at its Wonderlust event on September 12. These Apple Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2 will be a substantial upgrade over their predecessors and bring various improvements, such as a new chip and a heart rate sensor.

Apple Watch Series 9 And Ultra 2 To Get And Heart Rate Sensor

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the Apple Watch Series 9 will sport a new optical heart rate sensor. This sensor will be an upgrade from the third generation on the Apple Watch Series 8 and Apple Watch Ultra. Moreover, it will get various sensor and internal component upgrades to make it faster, more efficient and more accurate.

The Watch Series 9 will be available in 41mm and 45mm, whereas the Watch Ultra will be available in 49mm. Gurman claims these watches will have the same appearance as last year but with new colours and materials. Apple will use more recycled metal this time and introduce a black option for the Ultra.

The major highlight will be the performance of these watches as Apple has decided to advertise the new gains in processing power. According to rumours, a new chip based on the Apple A15 chipset could power the Series 9. This will be the first time Apple has focused on performance and added a new chip since the Apple Watch Series 6.

New Apple Watches To Have 3D Printed Cases

Similar to the iPhone 15 series, the Apple Watch Series 9 and the Ultra (2nd Gen) will pack a new U2 ultrawide band chip for better Find My capabilities. The Cupertino giant is also testing 3D-printed cases for watches as part of a significant environmental push. This will begin with the stainless steel model of the Series 9 and later be used for the Ultra.

Furthermore, the company plans to move away from some of the leather watch bands and discontinue or update its stainless steel link bracelets from the 2015 watch. This is evident from the recent price cuts on the leather bands and Hermes branded straps.

While these upgrades sound like a minor refresh, Apple has bigger plans in store for the iPhone 15 lineup with comprehensive upgrades across the board. The Apple iPhone 15 lineup will have a USB-C port, an Action Button and a new titanium chassis. The company will also unveil new generation AirPods Pro and new Apple Watches.
