Apple is said to be replace the larger iPhone 14 model ‘Plus’ Name rather than “Max,” reviving a naming standard last used in 2017. Apple’s upcoming flagship iPhone refresh is rumoured to do away with the “mini” model in favour of a larger non-Pro variant. Despite using the “Max” suffix more lately, a rumour indicates Apple will return to the previously-used “Plus.”

Serial leaker “Majin Bu” shares photos with case titles in a tweet about the case colours that Apple will release alongside the Apple iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro models. The photos, in addition to displaying the new colours, also include the model names.
According to the source, the iPhone 14 Pro will keep the previous name system for its larger model, which will be called the Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max. The larger iPhone 14, on the other hand, will be known as the “iPhone 14 Plus” rather than the “iPhone 14 Max.”

The leaker claims to have “99 per cent confidence” in the naming scheme, which is a surprising move for Apple but may have some rationale behind it. It could be argued that the titles Apple iPhone 14 Max and iPhone 14 Pro Max are too similar and could lead to consumer confusion.
There’s also the issue of “Max” being confused with internal specs, which would be fine for Pro models but not for non-Pro ones with lower specifications.
