India is one of the nations considering using USB Type-C as the standard charging connector for all electronic gadgets. The European Union has proposed regulations to establish USB Type-C connectors as the industry standard for smartphones, tablets, and cameras by 2024. Android-based handsets commonly utilise these connectors. Apple declared last year that it will obey EU legislation. According to a recent allegation, the Cupertino company may restrict the USB Type-C ports in its following devices comparable to those on its Lightning port.
Apple plans to use a proprietary integrated circuit (IC) interface for the future USB Type-C connector, allowing it to authenticate the components involved in the connection, according to a MacRumors story from a tipster on Weibo. First-party and MFi-certified Lightning ports and connectors have featured a tiny integrated circuit that checks the legitimacy of the components included in the connection since their inclusion in 2012. It is comparable to the limitations put on the company’s Lightning port.
When a user plugs in a device that isn’t built by Apple and isn’t a part of its “Made for iPhone” (MFi) licencing programme, warnings that warn them with the message “This accessory is not supported” are sent by the verification mechanism built into the Lightning interface.
It is important to note that none of Apple’s current USB Type-C electronic products, including the iPad 10th generation, iPad mini, iPad Air, and iPad Pro, contain any limitations on the USB Type-C port’s functionality. Additionally, since a tipster made the claim of the alleged restriction, it is advisable to treat it with caution.

iPhone 15 Series USB Type-C Port
This shift may not significantly affect the functionality of the forthcoming Apple devices. Still, according to the report, the company may limit rapid charging and high-speed data transfer to Apple and MFi-certified cords.
The iPhone 15 series may ditch the Lightning port in favour of USB Type-C. Moreover, it might dramatically speed up data transfer rates. TF Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo made this prediction. However, the premium iPhone 15 Pro series might be the only model to support USB Type-C cable ports.
“At least USB 3.2 ” connectivity is likely for the Apple iPhone 15 Pro and Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max. Thunderbolt 3 technology can carry data up to 40Gbps, compared to USB 3.2’s maximum of 20Gbps. The expert claims that it might increase demand for high-speed transfer chips. Notably, most Android smartphones currently use the USB 2.0 standard.
