The prepaid plans of Vodafone Idea, Reliance Jio, and Airtel increased in price last year. Airtel’s prepaid plans will now be more expensive for its customers. Gopal Vittal, the CEO of the business, verified the story. In 2022, Airtel is likely to raise its prices again. We’re going to utilise Rs 200 as our ARPU this time around.
Economic Times reports that Airtel is not pleased with the telecom regulator’s basic 5G tariffs. As Vittal pointed out at Wednesday’s results conference, “the industry had anticipated for an enormous decrease in pricing; although this has occurred, the reduction has not been enough and is, in that sense, disappointing.”
There was an 18 to 25 per cent rise in plan rates last year across all three privately held telecom companies.

The TRAI recommends 5G reverse rates, but it got rejection by the telecom providers. To cut the 5G reserve pricing by 90 per cent, the firms pushed for it.
“My intuition tells me that tariff rises will begin to effect later this year. In my opinion, tariffs at that level are still quite cheap. At least one round of tariff increases will be necessary to reach 200,” Vittal said about the proposed tariff increases. Customers, according to Vittal, will be able to deal with the blow.
The new price increase will simply be a blip on the radar in the long run. As a result of the pricing increase, Airtel gained an additional 5.24 million 4G customers in March. This was much more than the previous three-month period’s 3 million members.

In November 2021, Airtel was the first to raise prepaid plan costs by 18 to 25 per cent. Reliance Jio grew its pricing by up to 20 per cent a year ago, whereas Vodafone Idea kept its rates the same. The company hasn’t said if it expects to raise prices in 2022 if and when the tariffs will get a rise, which is noteworthy.
