Oppo F15 First Impressions: Flaunt Your Style At A Budget Price

Oppo has just launched its first device of the year in the Indian markets, and this smartphone is Oppo’s top of the line flagship smartphone, the Oppo F15. As far as the Oppo F series line of smartphones is concerned, we saw that the series was concentrating more on its front-facing camera performance in the past and design was not a strong point. However, we see a slight departure from that because the phone focuses more on its design rather than the camera performance alone.

The Oppo F15 comes with a price tag of Rs. 19,990 in India and we believe that it is an excellent buy at that price. We also have our first impressions of the Oppo F15. This will help you decide the pros and cons of the device to decide whether to buy this device or not.

The Oppo F15 is launched with a focus on the design as well as camera performance. For that reason, we can say that the it is the most beautiful and premium looking device from Oppo in the budget segment to date. In the front, you have a teardrop notch which looks quite similar to the OnePlus 7T. However, you have slightly larger bezels at the bottom.

On the back, we get a quad-camera setup which looks quite similar to the implementation that we have seen on the Realme 5s. Also, there is a gradient back panel on this device which adds to the attraction of this device.

One of the best things about the Oppo F15, which also sets it apart from the other devices in its price range, is its display. This is because the Oppo F15 gets a 6.4-inch Full HD+ AMOLED panel with a 20:9 aspect ratio, whereas the other devices still have an LCD in a similar price segment.

Having an AMOLED panel also gives Oppo the advantage of adding an in-display fingerprint sensor on the device. Oppo has also added a Gorilla Glass 5 protection layer to protect against regular scratches and drops from a certain height.

Talking about the Oppo F15 in regards to specifications, we have always known that Oppo’s devices are not packed with the best of chips or storage or RAM, and this one is no different. While you get 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage on this device, there is a MediaTek P70 chipset on this device which might be a deal-breaker for some who are looking to have a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset.

Also, we have seen that the Oppo F15 still runs on ColorOS 6, which is based on Android 9.0 Pie. We know that the Android 10 update will come to this device, but the device should have launched with it.

One of the talking points about the Oppo F15 is its camera setup on the front and the back. While you have a single selfie camera on the front, there are four cameras on the back. Talking about the rear cameras, Oppo has bundled a 48MP primary camera, 8MP wide-angle camera, 2MP macro camera, and a 2MP depth sensor. On the front is a 16MP selfie camera which we have seen on devices such as OnePlus 7T in the past.

As far as the camera performance is concerned, you get decent photos with the device. However, the camera struggles in the dark, even with the added dark mode in the camera app. So it tells you that you can capture great photos in daylight conditions but don’t expect excellent photos in the dark and you will not be disappointed.

Oppo F15 Battery

Oppo has made sure that they include a quality battery capacity inside the Oppo F15. You get a 4000 mAh battery on this device along with support for 20W fast charging system which is, yet again, similar to OnePlus’ Dash Charge and not Warp Charge which comes with 30W support. While Oppo has not mentioned anything, you should be able to charge your device from 0 to 50% in under 30 minutes.

As far as the Oppo F15 is concerned, it will cost you Rs. 19,990 and at this price, we feel that the device is slightly overpriced considering the specifications it offers.

Oppo could have also included somewhat better features like 30W fast charging and a Snapdragon 700 series chip at this price. It will be available for pre-order from Flipkart and Amazon.in as well as offline stores starting from January 16th.
