YouTube Music would become audio-only, and free users will no longer be able to see videos. Starting November 3, the change will be available to users in Canada; along with the much-anticipated background play feature for those who have not yet subscribed to YouTube Premium or YouTube Music Premium. Subscribers of YouTube Premium, on the other hand, will not receive any updates because they can continue to watch videos on the YouTube Music app.

YouTube Music New Change
The company said in a detailed post on its Community forums that videos on YT Music App would become limited to Premium users; with free listeners unable to view them unless they upgrade to the paid subscription. Users without a YouTube Premium or YouTube Music Premium will be unable to access features like on-demand music and unlimited skips.

YouTube will continue to offer free users access to dedicated mood mixes for activities like workouts and commutes; as well as millions of songs and number of playlists, as well as advertisements. Free listeners who have uploaded songs to the YouTube Music app will be able to listen to them on-demand, according to a post on the YouTube Community forums that was brought to 9to5Google‘s attention.
Background play, which was first revealed earlier this month and will be available on November 3; will be accompanied by changes to the YT Music free tier. Although YouTube has yet to disclose its “global expansion goals,” the change is being touted as a first for Canada. As a result, the new change will have a limited impact on users in Canada at first.
