Xiaomi is set to shake things up for its Indian users. Beginning January 2025, Xiaomi, Redmi, and Poco devices in India will bid farewell to the pre-installed GetApps store, replacing it with the Indus Appstore through a partnership with PhonePe. This update will impact all devices currently featuring GetApps, which until now could only be removed by changing the region to the US. While the Indus Appstore promises localized features and seamless payment integration with PhonePe, some users remain cautious about the change. So, read ahead to know how Xiaomi plans to uninstall GetApps.
How Xiaomi Plans To Uninstall GetApps?
The transition will occur automatically through system updates, giving users no option to opt-out. There’s uncertainty about whether the new app will be user-friendly or even possible to disable or uninstall.

While uninstalling GetApps from Xiaomi devices sounds promising, it would be better to remove it entirely from the device, especially since the Google Play Store already serves our needs.
Xiaomi’s track record of integrating ads into system apps has raised concerns among users about whether the new app store will follow suit. If ads are included but the app can’t be uninstalled, it might prove to be a smart strategy. However, if ads are present without uninstall options, it could spell trouble.
Hence, the decision of Xiaomi to uninstall GetApps and replace with other apps looks promising, but only time will tell about its result. So, let’s wait till January 2025 when the transition begins.
