The Enforcement Directorate dismissed on Saturday as “baseless” allegations. It has said that Xiaomi India officials’ statements were on records “under coercion,” saying the charges were an afterthought. The federal agency was responding to reports that Xiaomi’s top executives were threatful with “physical violence and coercion” during questioning by ED investigators in Bengaluru, according to a recent filing before the Karnataka High Court.

It said that the statements were deposed based on documents and information provided by the company during the course of the investigation. The agency stated that “their statements corroborate with the written responses submitted to ED and the material on record.”
