Noted tipster WABetaInfo recently reached a hundred thousand followers on Twitter. To celebrate this, the popular WhatsApp-based tipster has revealed certain important upcoming features coming to WhatsApp. WABetaInfo took to a blog post to reveal that the social media giant is currently working on introducing a voice message transcription feature to the app.
In addition, the tipster also revealed that WhatsApp will soon be getting end-to-end encryption support for cloud backups as well. Further, the report stated that the voice message transcription feature will only be available for iOS users initially. On the other hand, the end-to-end encryption for cloud backups will roll out for both Android and iOS users.
According to WABetaInfo, the voice message transcription feature for iOS is currently in development. However, it is an optional feature that will roll out for WhatsApp Beta users on iOS devices. Further, the report by WABetaInfo also reveals that the voice messages shared via WhatsApp will not be shared with Facebook. This is because Apple will be transcribing the data so, users do not have to worry about their data.
WhatsApp New Features: What More?
According to the report, the voice transcription feature will help Apple in a big way. The feature will allow Apple to enhance its speech recognition technology for iPhones. Now, in order to use this feature users will first have to allow WhatsApp to recognise speech. They will be able to do so by simply granting the app with the ability to do so.

However, when it comes to Android users, nothing has been revealed about the availability of this feature. If and when it does arrive to Android, the WhatsApp voice transcription feature can be enabled by simply tapping on the allow button when the pop-up prompt shows up.
WhatsApp is also strengthening its end-to-end encryption for messaging and cloud backups. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg took to Facebook to state that, “We’re adding another layer of privacy and security to WhatsApp: an end-to-end encryption option for the backups people choose to store in Google Drive or iCloud.”
