Apple iPad users have continued to wait for a native WhatsApp app. But this time it looks like it might happen soon. In an interview with The Verge, Cathcart said that his team would love to make a native app for Apple’s popular iPad. It comes after years-long demand for a separate iPad app for one of the most popular messaging platforms in the world.
Although Cathart did not commit towards an app and in no way hinted that the company is indeed working on a native app for iPad. He only hinted that he and his team are open to the idea. WhatsApp for iPad is something that has always remained a possible launch.

WhatsApp for iPad: A Possibility?
Until now, people continued to ask for a native WhatsApp for iPad. But Meta (formerly Facebook) continued to hold out until now. However, Cathcart says that it’s because of how encryption works on the app’s backend. The way data is encrypted on the app doesn’t allow for the safe sync of chats across multiple devices. All while maintaining the same level of encryption across all devices. However, the WhatsApp team is actively working to improve its encryption technology. This is to make cross-device syncing possible while maintaining the level of security the app is famous for.

WhatsApp’s multi-device feature is currently in beta and allows users to sync their chats on up to four devices. With the syncing technology being there, there is a good chance that WhatsApp may use that as a basis to make a separate app for Apple’s iPad. Right now, the multi-device feature only supports the web and desktop versions of WhatsApp at the moment. But, it seems like WhatsApp finally has the tech it needed to make an iPad version, so who knows, we may get the iPad version of the app in the coming months
