This year, Samsung’s first foldable phone will lose Android support. The Galaxy Z Fold was released three years ago. In other words, Samsung will not be upgrading the Galaxy Z Fold to Android 13 or any different version in the future.

Samsung’s First Foldable Phone To Lose Android Support: Here’s Why
The Galaxy Z Fold will receive Android OS updates for three years. Out of the box, the device was running Android 9.0 Pie. This year, Samsung released the Android 12 update for the Galaxy Z Fold, making it the device’s final Android OS upgrade. This means that Samsung will not release Android 13 for this foldable, nor any other future OS.

Three years ago, Samsung began its foldable journey with the original Galaxy Z Fold and the Z Flip. This year, Samsung released a fourth-generation product that had evolved and become a polished version, which was not the case when the Z Fold was released. Samsung was questioned about its durability, screen quality, and how long the hinge will last.
The reviews indicated that the first-generation product needed a lot of work, which Samsung did with the second-generation product, and we now have two more versions after that. The fact that the foldable market still lacks an intense competitor has aided Samsung’s case.
Oppo has proven its worth, whereas Xiaomi has limited its presence to China with the Mi Mix Fold series. According to industry reports, the foldable space is just starting, so more brands may push Samsung to take its competence to the next level in the coming years.
