  • Samsung will launch the Galaxy S24 Ultra, but leaks and rumours about the device have intensified. A new leak has now revealed details of the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra display. The upcoming flagship could break all brightness records and will have thicker bezels than any previous Samsung flagship since 2019.

According to a tweet by tipster IceUniverse, the S24 Ultra will have the lowest-screen-to-body ratio compared to other Samsung flagships. The phone will have the same bezels as the mid-range Samsung Galaxy A54, which won’t be aesthetically pleasing.

However, the bezels will be symmetrical in size for the top, bottom, and left and right. The top and bottom bezels are 3.0mm thick, whereas the ones on the left and right are 3.0mm thick. This will result in an 88 per cent screen-to-body ratio, the lowest since the Samsung Galaxy S10 launched in 2010. For comparison, the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra released this year has a screen-to-body ratio of 89.9 per cent.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra Will Have The Brightest Display

Despite the thick bezels, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra display leak suggests it will feature the brightest screen for any smartphone. The peak brightness of the smartphone will exceed 2,200 nits, the brightest for any Samsung phone. For instance, the Galaxy S23 Ultra and the iPhone 14 Pro Max can reach 1,750 nits and 2,000 nits of peak brightness, respectively. Currently, the Oppo Find X6 Pro holds the record for the brightest display, with a peak brightness of 2,500 nits.

The South Korean giant is currently testing screen prototypes that can reach anywhere from 2,500 nits to 2,800 nits of brightness. It remains to be seen whether the company will break the record of the Find X6 Pro and add an even brighter screen to the S24 Ultra. It is expected to be the same M13 OLED panel that will ship with the upcoming iPhone 15 series.

IceUniverse further says that the S23 Ultra could be the last Samsung phone to ship with a curved display. This could mean that the company will switch to a flat display, starting with the S24 Ultra. It is worth noting that the S23 Ultra is the only phone in the S23 series to feature a curved display, as the Samsung Galaxy S23 and Samsung Galaxy S23 Plus have a flat display.

Samsung could be considering uniformity by switching to a flat display across the S24 lineup. The middle frame of the S24 Ultra could be similar to a recent folding phone prototype showcased by Samsung with a shiny metal frame. This means that the phone will have curved sides with a flat display, making it ergonomic and easier to hold. As a result, the phone will be 79mm wide compared to the 78.1mm of the S23 Ultra.
