Just like Xiaomi, Samsung is also working on a 200-MP camera sensor. However, we might see it appear on the S22 Ultra in 2022, as well as some other devices from different brands. This move is towards a new generation of smartphones making a leap. We can expect it headlight itself on Samsung Galaxy S22 series. However, we recently saw a leak for the same sensor on Xiaomi’s next phone.

Samsung 200-MP Sensor?
According to PhoneArena, Samsung is expecting to launch a 200MP smartphone camera this year. It comes from the Chinese website IT Home which cites Weibo posts from popular leakers Ice Universe and Digital Chat Station. Most probably, it can be Samsung Galaxy S22.
On the other hand, other leaks also suggest a 200-MP sensor on the phone. Although Xiaomi is apparently jumping forward with this sensor just like it did with the 108-MP sensor. Rumored Samsung Galaxy S22 200MP sensor claims to have 1.28µm pixels and be 1/1.37-inch in size. It’s also said to use pixel-binning technology and support 16K video recording.

To recall, Samsung already offers a 108-megapixel sensor with 0.8µm pixels. Moreover, it recently announced a 50-megapixel sensor in February 2021 that features 1.4µm pixels. The 108-megapixel sensor is on the Galaxy S21 Ultra so it wouldn’t come as a huge shock to see its successor also go down the high-resolution camera sensor path.

Samsung Galaxy S22 200MP sensor is rumored to feature 0.64µm pixels. A previous report had said that the company is reconsidering its camera strategy. Presumably, because high megapixel cameras haven’t made much of a mark. That said, Galaxy S21 Ultra’s 108MP HM3 unit is a significant improvement over the past generation, and this has made it one of the best smartphones for photography.
