Poco’s CEO also said that, although the company is unlikely to enter any new inexpensive price classes in the market. It would introduce some of its new models priced close to the Rs. 30,000 level.

He said, “That means I’ll probably go a touch more than the Poco F3 GT’s pricing points. But it may not be a big move since I don’t want to shock the system too much”. With a starting price of Rs. 26,999, the Poco F3 GT was introduced in India as a mid-range smartphone.

A new 5G Poco phone will be on the market soon

Poco already has two 5G variants on the market, the M3 Pro and the F3 GT, both available now. The M4 Pro 5G is, in fact, the next model in the line-up of smartphones. Poco, on the other hand, is planning to release an additional 5G phone this year.

The importance of going beyond phones

The company Poco has been in the news for quite some time now for its work on truly wireless stereo (TWS) earphones, in addition to its phones. Poco even reveals that the earbuds may be the Poco Pop Buds when they got a release in 2020. But, on the other hand, the offering did not make it to the market.

In 2022, Sharma’s team will focus on going beyond phones. It’s hazardous for me to say anything, even that we’ll succeed given we’ve been trying for, I think, five quarters. Undeniably, a brick wall, with several internal obstacles indicating “we don’t like it” or “this isn’t hitting that particular threshold.”

Poco also developed a community last year, stating it would enable direct user feedback and improve the overall experience. Despite the addition of 300 new members, Sharma claims the group is still in beta.

Poco has also developed a camera lab in India to provide consumers with more customised camera experiences.

Having a darker skin tone is crucial because, even in broad daylight, devices might struggle to determine what should be the exposure value of a person who has a darker skin tone,” says the author. And how can you strike a balance between it and the background? ‘So, all of those considerations are just one piece of what we’re looking at,’ Sharma said further

He also said that both the community and the camera lab would collaborate to enhance the overall experience and make it more beneficial for consumers in the country.

Poco has received several complaints about the rollout of a defective update that negatively affected the user experience. However, according to the brand, the problem affected just 0.2 per cent of the Poco X2 devices sold in the nation at the time of the incident. On the other hand, several customers have documented negative consequences on the internet.

Poco expects to benefit from the emergence of the community in the future, as it will be able to identify and resolve such difficulties. However, despite this, the software Poco employs on its phones is still getting manage by Xiaomi’s MIUI team in Beijing. Consequently, we may have to wait and see how the establishment of the community will contribute to the overall experience improvement.

Several market analysts are enthusiastic about the future of Poco in India

In an interview with Gadgets 360, IDC India Research Director Navkendar Singh said that the company’s narrower selection, new brand identity, and high-spec smartphones had helped Poco gain traction in the market.

With such severe competition in the industry, where the top 5 players are so dominating, Poco has been able to carve out a reasonable portion of mindshare in the sub-Rs. 20,000 sector, according to the executive.

Like Singh, Faisal Kawoosa, the founder of market research and consulting business Techarc, said that Poco had developed a substantial brand equity and product positioning throughout its existence. However, the COVID-19 pandemic began in 2020, and he said it was one of the brand harms since the outbreak began.

“At this point, going into expansion mode makes complete sense, and the company can capitalise on its strengths,” he said.
