  • After mistakenly unveiling the Pixel Buds A-Series on microblogging site Twitter last month, tech giant Google has quietly launched a new pair of affordable truly wireless earbuds, named the Pixel Buds A-Series.

    The new earbuds intend to be a more affordable alternative to Google’s Pixel Buds earbuds, which were introduced in 2019 and launched last year. The Pixel Buds A-Series earbuds, while being a toned-down model, share a number of features with the previous-generation Pixel Buds. For example, you’ll get the same 12mm dynamic drivers that came with the previous model.

    Google’s latest wireless earbuds cost $99, which is approximately Rs 7,230 in India. TWS earbuds are available in two color options: Clearly White and Dark Olive. For the time being, Google has offered the Pixel Buds A-Series ready for pre-order in the United States and Canada, with delivery starting on June 17. There are no specific dates for when the new earbuds will be available in other regions, such as India.

    The Pixel Buds (also known as the Pixel Buds 2) were on sale for $179 last year (roughly Rs. 13,100). The price difference between the previous Pixel Buds and the newest Pixel Buds A-Series is almost 55 percent.

    Google Pixel Buds A-Series specifications

    12mm dynamic drivers are used in the new wireless earbuds. There is no noise cancellation, which we can expecte at this price point. Adaptive Sound, on the other hand, is a Google function that increases or decreases the volume depending on your surroundings. 

    The earbuds also have a Bass Boost feature, which aims to provide a strong bass. The earbuds contain capacitive touch sensors which you can use to make and receive calls as well as to play music. Users can also activate Google Assistant. In-ear detection is assisted with a single IR proximity sensor, which helps play or pause music automatically.

    A motion-detecting accelerometer, beamforming mics, and IPX4 dust and water-resistant rating are among the other features. The charging case includes a hall effect sensor, which detects whenever the case is opened and closed. Wireless earbuds make use of Bluetooth 5.0 to connect.

    The Pixel Buds A-Series, according to Google, can last up to 5 hours of playback or 2.5 hours of talk time. According to the company, the earbuds will provide up to 24 hours of playback time or up to 12 hours of call time when used with the charging case. The case contains a USB Type-C charging port.
