OnePlus 9 RT is Reportedly in The Works; Will Arrive With OxygenOS 12

OnePlus has been on a roll when it comes to launching their T series of models. The company usually launches their T series of smartphones in the second half of a given year. However, this time, the company has confirmed that their OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro will not be getting a OnePlus 9T smartphone this year. However, the company did launch their OnePlus 9R and now, the company is reportedly working on bringing out their OnePlus 9 RT as a refresh 9R. The smartphone is expected to launch later on this year itself.

Besides, according to the report by Android Central, the upcoming 9 RT will run on Android 12 with the Oxygen OS 12 right out-of-the-box. Further, the report also suggests that the smartphone will launch in October of this year itself.

However, OnePlus has not rolled out the new skin for their current flagship devices as of now. So, maybe the company will roll out a new Android skin for their devices in the coming weeks. Oxygen OS 12 will bring a bunch of different features like the password-protected Private Safe feature of ColorOS. Other features like Floating Windows, new privacy features and a theme store as well.

OnePlus 9 RT Specifications (Expected)

The OnePlus 9 RT is expected to retain the AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate as the OnePlus 9R. In addition, the device will most likely pack a similar 4,500mAh battery with 65W fast charging support as well. However, there are differences in the two smartphones, the report suggests.

According to the report, the 9 RT will be powered by a better version of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 SoC. The report goes on to suggest a Plus version of the Snapdragon 870 in the device, which is due to get an official release date as of now.

Further, the OnePlus 9 RT will also come with major improvements in the camera segment. The device is expected to come with the 50-megapixel Sony IMX766 sensor from the OnePlus 9 series of devices. The 9 RT will use this particular sensor as its primary sensor as seen on the OnePlus Nord 2 5G.

When it comes to the availability of the device, the smartphone is said to debut only in India and China for now. However, it may be launched to other markets as well in the future. Additionally, the report also suggests the launch of two new Nord series devices this year itself. However, no launch dates or anything else about these two Nord devices have been revealed in the report.
