After the Google I/O event yesterday, Android 12 public beta links surface for many devices. Many other OEM’s including OnePlus are lining up to give their own users a peek at the new 12 Beta. In addition, all the details on how to update to the latest beta are in a forum post by Google. However, it is causing issues all over. OnePlus 9 phones users are getting the chance to experience but some users are facing pretty severe headaches.

The company is now pulling the beta links as many users complain of bricking after updating to Android 12. OnePlus says that it is looking into the matter – the update for the OnePlus 9 phones is now not available. According to OnePlus they have “temporarily removed the download links based on the feedback from users in this thread”. He also adds, “I’m sharing the feedback with the software team so they can look into it in the morning at HQ”.

Moreover, Max Weinbach also details a fix to this bricking issue if you were one of the early adopters of the Android 12 beta software. He also tweets on how some other devices he tried updating with this beta Android is causing issues for his phone like OnePlus 9 phones.
If you want to install this beta, make sure to unlock your phone’s bootloader *before* installing the beta. If you don’t, your OnePlus 9 phones will not be able to get past the setup process. Especially where the device verifies your old Google account for FRP (factory reset protection). Toggling OEM Unlock in developer options disables this check. According to a report by Android Police, you can remove this bricking with an EDL restore on your OnePlus 9 phones or other. This will “restore your phone with a factory image using a Qualcomm chipset-level flash.” You can read about how to restore your phone using EDL through this XDA Developers guide.
Furthermore, it is best to stay away from the Android 12 beta build for a while, till third-party OEMS iron out all the bumps.
