OnePlus 8T was launched as the company’s flagship offering for 2020. Moreover, the smartphone was launched as the single successor to the OnePlus 7T series as we did not get to see any other phone in the series. However, we did get the OnePlus 9R, which can be considered as an upgraded version of the OnePlus 8T. However, both the OnePlus 8T and 9R came with LPDDR4X RAM.
According to a recent report, the smartphones have recently started shipping with an upgraded LPDDR5 RAM. This is a significantly faster RAM than the previously used LPDDR4X. This comes from several users of the device reporting the availability of an LPDDR5 RAM module in their device. From the looks of it, the company has silently upgraded their smartphone to a faster RAM module.

Furthermore, this became more apparent when users tried unbricking the OnePlus 8T and 9R devices via a MSMDownloadTool. Now, here comes the catch. This particular tool was not compatible with the LPDDR5 RAM variant. The LPDDR4X RAM module supported this tool but the upgraded version did not. Additionally, XDA Developers carried out some similar tests via the ABD command and it turned out to be the LPDDR5 RAM module.
Taking things back a bit, the OnePlus 8T came with up to 128GB of LPDDR4X RAM. Moreover, the official specs sheet of the device still have this particular RAM module listed. However, that definitely does not seem to be the case, according to recent reports.
