OnePlus said earlier this year that it would be combining more teams with Oppo in order to improve the customer experience with its products. Oxygen OS and Oppo’s Color OS codebases will be integrated, according to the company. The OnePlus Nord 2 is the company’s first phone to ship with the new Oxygen OS 11.3. The company has stated that, while the codebase would be integrated, users will not notice any significant changes. The new integrated Oxygen OS update is likely to arrive on more OnePlus phones. In China, OnePlus has stated that the OnePlus 8 series and 8T will get Oppo’s ColorOS next year.

The latest update for the OnePlus 8, 8 Pro, and 8T will roll out next year, according to OnePlus COO Liu Fengshuo. The update is expected to be released in the first quarter of 2022. In China, the OnePlus 9 series was launched with Oppo’s ColorOS; whereas the global variants came with Oxygen OS 11. Fengshuo stated that the team is striving to ensure that the upcoming update is stable. As a result, ColorOS for the 8 series has to be delayed.

Will OnePlus 8 Series get ColorOS Update in Indian ?
As of today, the short answer is no. Oxygen OS will continue to be the default operating system for OnePlus devices. In China, the company has started launching Android devices with Hydrogen OS, a modified version of Oxygen OS. Google Mobile services such as Search, Gmail, Google Maps, and others are not available in the China-specific interface.

It’s likely after the merger that the company might take a similar approach to phones outside of China. Another example was mentioning of ColorOS in the Android 12 beta for OnePlus smartphones. However, the company has clarified that it will continue to launch smartphones with Oxygen OS in India and other markets. This means that with Android 12, customers will continue to have the same Oxygen OS experience.
