Nothing has announced its new Nothing OS 2.5 beta update based on Android 14. This new update brings plenty of new features, as the company claims it is the most significant update since Nothing OS 2.0. The new Nothing OS 2.5 is based on Android 14 and brings plenty of new features and improvements:
- New Widget Library: The update brings a new widget library interface, allowing you to select your favourite widget more easily.
- New Photos Widget: A new photos widget lets you showcase your favourite photos on the lock and home screens.
- New Screenshot Editor: The update brings a new screenshot editor for advanced photo editing and quick deletions
- Updated Back Gesture: The back gesture has received a new dotted look to make it consistent with Nothing’s design language
- Hide Apps: You can now hide apps on the home screen and app drawer. These apps will be revealed when you swipe right in the app drawer.
- Screenshot Gesture: You can now capture a screenshot quickly with a three-finger swipe
- Customizable power button: You can now double-press the power button to open a feature of your choice
- Better Lock Screen and Home Screen Customization: There is a new redesigned Lock Screen and Home Screen customization menu for a comprehensive view of all options
- New Glass Filter: Nothing has added a new glass filter so you can make your favourite wallpapers stand apart
- New Solid Wallpapers: There are also new Solid Wallpapers for a clean home screen experience.

- Predictive Back Gesture while navigating through apps
- Updated Quick Settings interface with support for Nothing earbuds icon
- New lock screen shortcut including do not disturb, QR code scanner and video camera.

- Support for regional settings to customize units and numbers

How To Update To Nothing OS 2.5
The Nothing OS 2.5 beta is currently available in early access for Nothing Phone (2) users, with the company promising the update for Nothing Phone (1) by the end of this year. Since this is not a stable update, installing it on your daily driver is not recommended. The company strongly suggests you back up your data as there is a slight chance it may interfere with your data and require a factory reset.

First, to install the update, ensure your phone is running the Nothing OS Beta 2.0.3. Next, you need to download the Nothing OS Beta Tool from Nothing’s Community. Install the app and head to Settings->System-> Update to the Beta version. Click on Check for new version and follow the instructions on your screen to update your device.
