Vivo’s sub-brand iQOO has recently launched their iQOO 8 series of smartphones in China. This particular series includes the iQOO 8 and iQOO 8 Pro models. After their China launch, the devices are now all set to launch in India soon. We shall hear from the company on this in the coming days. However, now ahead of its India launch, an interesting feature of the vanilla variant has been surfaced online.
The vanilla iQOO 8 has now appeared online in a couple of hands-on videos. These videos have been posted on Twitter by multiple tipsters. The most interesting thing about these videos is that they reveal the iQOO 8 to come with a colour changing back panel. Noted tipster Ice Universe took to Twitter to reveal the colour changing process of the device.
iQOO 8 Colour Changing Process
Ice Universe’s video shows how the back panel of the smartphone changes from White to Orange. Moreover, we can also notice that this particular colour change is occurring when exposed to direct sunlight. Further, the colour changing process happens gradually and not instantly. However, the company has not revealed the exact time taken by the device to change its colours.

Noted tipster Mukul Sharma took to Twitter to post a video as well. This particular video is basically what seems to be a Chinese trailer for the smartphone. This particular video showcases how the smartphone’s back panel changes its colours. However, although this is a very interesting feature, the iQOO 8 will not be the first device to come with it.
Other Colour Changing Devices
OnePlus revealed its concept phone back in 2020, which was based on their OnePlus 8T model. This particular device came with a colour changing back panel tech as well. The device made it possible via a metal oxide film at the back. In addition, this particular film was paired up with electrochromic glass technology. Further, this was the combination which allowed the device to change its colours. However, the smartphone did not see the light of the day and could never get a commercial release.

Further, OPPO launched their OPPO Reno 5 Pro Plus which features a colour changing back panel technology as well. The Artist Limited Edition of the device went on sale in China this year. This particular device uses the same tech that OnePlus used in its concept model. Further, OPPO also stated that the device could change its colour over a whopping 30,000 times as well.
Going by all these bits and pieces of colour changing tech, we can say that iQOO is the third BBK Electronics owned brand to adapt this colour changing back panel technology. The first two are definitely, as mentioned before, OnePlus and OPPO. We can expect to see this technology become trendy as well in the coming days depending on how well the users perceive it.
