International Women’s Day 2022: Everything You Need To Know

The theme of international women’s day 2020 is related to gender equality. As, if we look at the status of women a few years back, then women do not have many rights. Even, society does not find women capable of taking any decisions on their own. But, considering the fact that women are now holding a better position in society.

Women play several roles in a single day as that of a mother, sister, wife, daughter, etc. Interestingly, everyone expects her to take up every responsibility and perform it to the best. Therefore, women always work hard in order to keep their family happy and also to make themselves happy.

History

According to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, International Women’s Day was first introduced during the time of labour movements. On February 28th, 1909, the United States celebrate the first National Woman’s Day, by the Socialist Party of America to memorialize the 1908 garment workers’ strike in New York, during which women protested against poor working conditions.

On the last Sunday in February in 1917, Russian women decided to protest and strike under the slogan “Bread and Peace” (which was on 8 March according to the Gregorian calendar).

International Women’s Day Theme of 2022

International Women’s Day is celebrated every year on March 8. The popular hashtags for this year are #ChooseToChallenge and #IWD2022. As the theme of this year is revolving around gender equality. On this day, we aim to celebrate the success of women along with making people aware of gender biases. Therefore, all of us must take a ‘challenge’ to bring the change.
