It’s possible that your next Nvidia GPUs will be made by Intel, as strange as that may sound.  Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang conducted a press conference, and the conversation swiftly shifted to Intel’s Foundry Services (IFS) project. This will see Intel make chips for other firms as part of its IDM 2.0 program. Surprisingly, Huang stated that his company is exploring using Intel’s foundry for part of its chip manufacturing.

On both the fronts of CPU and GPU, Intel now competes directly with Nvidia, but Huang claims that Intel and AMD have known Nvidia’s secret roadmaps for years and isn’t concerned about disclosing additional information.

Surprising statements came forward during a discussion on Intel’s Foundry services. “We’re quite open-minded about evaluating Intel, and I’m impressed with their efforts,” Huang added. Why wouldn’t Nvidia want to look into Intel’s process technology if it can achieve a good combination of clock frequency and power consumption?

Despite the fact that Intel would compete directly with Nvidia in the GPU market. The discussions are in conformity by Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger. Intel is “thrilled for their interest in using our foundry capabilities,” he told Reuters. He stated that conversations with Nvidia were still underway.

It would take a long time to use Intel as a foundry services partner, according to Huang. “It takes a long time to discuss foundries, and it’s not just about wants. We must match technology, business models, capacity, operations processes, and the two organizations’ natures. We’re not purchasing milk here, so it takes some time and a lot of deep conversations. It’s all about supply chain integration in this case. Our relationships with TSMC and Samsung over the previous several years have taken years to develop. As a result, we’re quite open to evaluating Intel, and their efforts are impressive.
