According to the company, OEMs will be able to use Intel’s ‘Deep Link’ technology to dynamically balance a CPU and GPU within a laptop’s heat and power envelopes to optimise performance for different types of workloads.

Because of their shared Xe architecture, Arc GPUs and ‘Alder Lake’ CPUs with integrated graphics capabilities can also work together to accelerate specific video encoding and AI workloads.

The lineup supports DirectX 12, variable rate shading, and ray tracing, but Intel’s XeSS image. Upscaling technology will not be available with this first set of chips. The company also touts its support for hardware AV1 video encoding. As well as the most recent HDMI and DisplayPort standards.

Intel’s new Arc Control software will function as a gamer hub. It will come with community features, streaming and camera controls, performance profiles, and in-game events and rewards. In addition, the company has promised monthly driver updates. It has a close working relationship with game developers, including day-zero patches for newly released titles.

The two new GPUs announced thus far are based on the Intel Xe architecture stack’s HPG, or High-Performance Gaming, tier. Intel announced that Alchemist would be the codename for its first generation of discrete consumer. GPUs, with Battlemage, Celestial, and Druid already planned for the coming years.

While the Arc A350M and A370M have six and eight Xe cores, respectively. The upcoming Arc A550M, A730M, and A770M have sixteen, twenty-four, and thirty-two Xe cores.
