    More On Chrome 100!

With the introduction of Chrome 100, Google’s Chrome browser versions have now reached the triple digits for the first time. A stable release of the new Chrome 100 is currently being rolled out. It is to come on Windows, Mac, Linux, Android, and iOS devices, with more platforms to follow. Google has also updated the Chrome browser’s logo, which hasn’t been updated since 2014. This is the first time this has happened since 2014.

It seemed inevitable that it would mark the 100th anniversary of the world’s most widely used web browser. Even though Google has dedicated most of it to highlighting Chrome’s achievements since its introduction in 2008, there is still a lot to see.

A new blog is up on the Chrome developer’s website. It peeks into Chrome’s past, tackles potential concerns associated with reaching triple digits, and describes new possibilities for website creators. However, there are no new features in this version of the software.

According to Google, many of the problems that were there in Chrome 100 are now not. On the other hand, website administrators are eager to test Chrome 100 and notify Google if they see any problems. A similar call is there for Firefox 100, which is likely to be out “very shortly.”

Pete LePage, a Developer Advocate at Google, notes that “these three-digit version numbers can cause difficulties for sites. It depends on identifying the browser version in some manner”. As a result, testing and reporting any difficulties with this will assist Google in identifying and correcting any incompatibilities. For website maintenance, LePage recommends that you test your site using Chrome and Firefox 100, respectively.

This will also be the final version of Chrome to allow “an unreduced User-Agent string by default,” according to Google. With further upgrades, Google will phase out the usage of the User-Agent string in favour of the new User-Agent Client Hints API, which will be available soon.

With Chrome 100, Google also has a new Multi-Screen Window Placement API, which you can find here. When several displays are link to the main workstation, the new API will enable users to install windows on particular screens by specifying the screen name. According to Google, this will be a critical capability for specific applications that need a properly spread layout of your windows to work correctly.
