  • Instagram is combining its long-form video format, IGTV, with feed videos to establish Instagram Video. The Facebook-owned app will feature a new Video tab that combines all video content into one place. Trimming, filters, as well as persons and location tracking, will now be available to video creators. Users can also share their videos as direct messages on the application and cross-post them via Stories. In a blog post published on October 5, Facebook confirmed the launch of Instagram Video and other new features on the social media network. The app’s new Video tab will make it easier for users to find new content on the platform. By pressing the plus (+) icon in the top right corner of the home page, users can continue to upload videos from their camera roll on the platform. On Instagram Video, users may also cut videos, apply multiple effects, and tag people and places.

The video previews in the main feed will be 60 seconds in length. The preview duration for ads will be 15 seconds. Users can now tap anywhere on the video to go fullscreen.

The IGTV advertising has also been renamed Instagram In-Stream video ads by Facebook. Eligible creators can continue to monetize their long-form content, and sponsors can reach viewers who are watching their videos, according to the social media giant. “For businesses interested in boosting their videos to reach more people, videos must be no longer than 60 seconds in length”, according to the blog post.
