The company explains that the feature will use artificial intelligence to determine who is an adult and who is the minor. The social media platform asks for age on the first sign-in. Also, they have reporting tools through which any user can report if someone who is not 13 has an account on Instagram.

When the company finds out about the owner of the account who is not 13 then the company immediately takes the account down. Instagram is using the machine learning method to find out behavioral signals to get how old someone is.

Previously the company has included features through which users can limit who can see their Instagram stories for more safety. The latest feature will first prompt the young user by asking whether they know this adult person or not.

After that, if the minor does not know the adult then the minor can secretly restrict the person and report or block the other person. The notice that was introducing the feature also advised the uses to be careful while sharing photos, videos, and information with someone unknown.

Lastly, Instagram also advises minor users that they do not have to respond to messages that annoy them or make them feel uncomfortable. Also, there is always an option to make the account private. The company wants to get ahead and protect teens from unjustifiable interactions between adult and teens.
