  • The Google Pixel 8 series launch is just around the corner, and the company has announced an event on October 4 to unveil the phones. A new leak has revealed the US pricing for the Google Pixel 8 series ahead of launch.

    The Google Pixel 8 will be more expensive this year

    According to a leak by tipster Kamila on Twitter, the Google Pixel 8 will launch at $699, while the Google Pixel 8 Pro will debut at $899. This leak comes straight from Google’s promotional document of the phone, and it suggests the Pixel 8 will get a $100 price increase. Thankfully, the Pixel 8 Pro will maintain the same price tag of $899 as the Google Pixel 7 Pro.

    This continues the trend of the Google Pixel 7a, which launched at a higher price than the Google Pixel 6a. However, the phone brought several upgrades, such as a new camera sensor, higher refresh rate and wireless charging support, resulting in an increase in price.

    Similarly, the new Tensor G3 chip, bigger battery and faster refresh rate could result in higher prices for the Pixel 8. While the Pixel 8 Pro is a major upgrade this year, Google has decided to stick with the same pricing.

    The Pixel 8 will sport a 6.17-inch Full-HD+ panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, while the Pixel 8 Pro will have a 6.7-inch panel QHD+ OLED display with 120Hz refresh rate. Both phones feature the Tensor G3 chip and the Titan M2 security chip with 8GB and 12GB of RAM, respectively.

    The phones will run on Android 14 out of the box with three years of software updates. The Pixel 8 and 8 Pro will have a 50-megapixel camera. In addition, there is a 12-megapixel ultrawide on the Pixel 8 and a 48-megapixel ultrawide on the Pixel 8 Pro. Furthermore, a 48-megapixel telephoto sensor with 5x zoom is exclusive to the Pixel 8 Pro.

    The Pixel 8 will pack a 4,485mAh battery, whereas the Pixel 8 Pro will have a 4,900mAh battery. Both phones will have 27W fast charging and 24W wireless charging. Additionally, they will have an in-display fingerprint scanner apart from NFC, Wi-Fi and 5G for connectivity. Both phones will be available for pre-order from October 4 on the Google Store.
