Almost all of us are pretty much aware of what virtual private networks (VPNs) is and what it does. Back in 2020, Google added a VPN to the package, Google One VPN, intended for use on public Wi-Fi networks and other places. It started to roll out as users could trust Google more than the internet service provider. But it initially limited its availability to Android devices. However, now it’s available on iOS too.

Google One Brings VPN to iOS Users
This expansion/ update comes a year after Google One VPN launched for Android users. Although Google’s VPN hasn’t been much use if you primarily surf the more secure web through your iPhone. But this won’t be a problem from now on. Google is starting to roll out the service for iOS users. As long as you have subscribed to the 2TB Premium plan in eligible countries, this should help you shield your internet activity. However, it won’t give you an IP address in another country. So don’t expect to browse foreign streaming service libraries.
“Today, we’re beginning to roll out the VPN to iOS devices. Similar to Android, the VPN will be available to Google One members on Premium plans (2 TB and higher) through the Google One app on iOS. Plus, members can share their plan and the VPN with up to five family members at no extra cost, so they can all use the VPN, no matter whether they’re using an Android or iOS phone.”

Meanwhile, this Google One VPN works more or less just like the Android version. There are no region-switching options. Google also did mention in its blog post that a few features aren’t available in the iOS version yet. Such as the option to exclude specific apps from the VPN connection. It is also still limited to specific countries, which currently includes Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, and the United States.
Moreover, there are new features for Android users. App Bypass lets certain apps use a regular connection if the VPN proves troublesome. Whereas, Safe Disconnect will only let you get online while the VPN is active. On the other hand, Snooze temporarily disables the VPN. Google One Premium costs $10 per month and is currently available in 18 countries.
