CES is hands down, one of the most influential and successful tech events that people look forward to. CES 2022 was no different and was much anticipated. However, the problem lies with the event maybe being a tad-bit too underwhelming. At a moment when the world is fighting against and trying to recover from COVID, it does not come as a surprise.
If numbers help it in any way, the CES event recorded an attendance shortfall by a staggering 75 per cent this year. Moreover, this shortfall is in comparison to its last in-person event that was held two years ago. Besides, this data comes from its organiser themselves. So, you can trust the numbers blindfolded.

The 2022 tech convention is being held at Las Vegas. According to the Consumer Technology Association, over 40,000 people attended the closing day of the show. However, it falls terribly short when compared to the whopping over 170,000 plus attendance for the CES 2020 event.
CES 2022 Low Attendance – An Insight into the Cause
According to CTA (Consumer Electronic Association), because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, they had to take the carry out 2021’s conference online. However, eight months ago, the trade group decided to make the 2022 convention physical, in Vegas. Now, this proved to be incredibly challenging, thanks to the global spike in COVID infections because of the Omicron variant.

In addition, people who attended the conference were required to wear masks on exhibition grounds. They were also required to show a proof of their two doses of COVID vaccination before they arrived to the venue. Sadly, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, several tech biggies decided to withdraw themselves from the conferences weeks ahead of the event.

All of this together resulted in the attendance of this year’s convention being underwhelming in comparison to that of the 2020 convention. In spite of all this, the CES 2022 highlights have been very exciting.
