Apple 2022 iPhone lineup will not include an updated version of the iPhone mini, according to a new report. This development appears to confirm about it failing to meet sales expectations. However, by ditching it, it will be bringing new models in 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch sizes.

The note by Ming-Chi Kuo, as reported by MacRumors, mentions two 6.1-inch and two 6.7-inch models. It is similar to the Apple iPhone 12 family that has the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro in 6.1-inch sizes and the iPhone 12 Pro Max with a 6.7-inch screen. Moreover, it also contains early details about some of the 2022 iPhones’ display sizes and cameras.
iPhone mini dropped from Apple 2022 lineup?
To recall, the iPhone mini is an entry-level version of Apple’s flagship smartphone from last year. However, it likely underperformed sales expectations, according to market research. In a study, it only accounted for a mere 6% of sales in the U.S. from October to November.

According to a new report, this Apple 2022 lineup can feature enhanced camera sensors with a 48-MP resolution. In addition, it can also come with an 8K video support and pixels that are larger than those in Android handsets. The new models are also predicted to have a 1.25-micron pixel size. However, it is possible that it can still have a smaller and entry-level version of the iPhone.

The new optics on the Apple 2022 iPhone models can help “elevate mobile phone camera photography to a new level”. The high-end iPhone models in the lineup can also be capable of bringing “more suitable” content for augment reality (AR) and mixed reality (MR) experiences.
