Apple has stated that Lossless and Spatial Audio support for Apple Music would be available in India soon. After a few customers stated on Twitter about the lack of lossless audio streaming and Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos support, Apple announced that these features will be coming to India soon. Following this year’s WWDC conference, both lossless, as well as spatial audio, were released on Apple Music last week. Unfortunately, none of these features made it to India.

Apple Music Lossless and Spatial Audio
Apple revealed last month that its Apple Music subscription would soon include lossless audio playback and Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos support at no additional cost. Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos is a new system that allows users to listen to chosen tracks in surround sound with 3D audio effects using iPhones, iPads, AirPods, and HomePods. Later this year, Spatial Audio will be available on Apple TV. FaceTime, Apple’s videoconferencing application, will also get the Spatial Audio update.

Lossless audio will support the entire Apple Music collection of 75 million songs. The lossless tier starts with CD quality (16 bit, 44.1 kHz) and progresses to 24 bit, 48 kHz. High-resolution lossless, which goes up to 24 bit at 192 kHz, is also available for audiophiles. However, you’ll need to use a USB digital-to-analog converter for that. Subscribers of Apple Music would be able to turn on the new lossless option in Settings > Music > Audio quality.

Both of these features will come in the standard Apple Music subscription. The decision to add a spatial audio experience to Apple Music is part of the company’s overall plan to grow the ecosystem. In the music streaming market, Apple Music faces stiff competition from Spotify and Amazon Music.
