Apple is manufacturing the Apple iPhone 15 and Apple iPhone 15 Plus in India and is slowly moving its production from China to India. The company recently announced that Tata will be the first Indian company to manufacture the iPhone after the exit of Winstron from the country. Now, a new report speculates Apple will completely assemble the Apple iPhone 17 in India instead of China.
Made In India iPhone 17 Could Soon Become A Reality
According to the report, Apple could commence the production of the iPhone 17 in India instead of China. The assembly of the previous iPhones took place mostly in China, with some models made in India. Only the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus are being assembled in India, while the Pro models are made in China.

Apple is likely to manufacture the iPhone 17 in the country due to its “lower difficulty” in design production, according to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Foxconn, Pegatron and Tata Group will assemble the phone starting in 2024.
Apple Planning To Reduce Its Dependency On China
Apple plans to diversify its supply chain to reduce its reliance on China. Furthermore, due to Apple’s deteriorating relations with China, it is looking for an alternative to serve as its manufacturing hub. The sales of iPhones in China have been declining by a double-digit percentage, according to analyst Jeffries.

The US-China cold war also contributes to the tensions amid speculation that the Chinese government has asked its employees not to use iPhones.However, this rumour was denied by China while raising concerns about security vulnerabilities in iPhones.
This has forced the Cupertino Giant to search for alternatives like Vietnam and India. Initiatives like Make in India and Production Linked Incentives (PLI) schemes have made India a lucrative destination for companies.

Apple is also looking to strengthen its ties with the Indian government by shifting its production to the country. The company expects significant sales and growth from India over the next decade.
In 2017, the Apple iPhone SE was the first iPhone to be made in India by Foxconn. The company has invested its resources into making the country a manufacturing hub by exporting the iPhones assembled in the country.
