Apple iPad Air 2022 Launched: What It Offers

Apple’s first event of the year, “Peek Performance”, brings a lot of products to the market this year on March 8, 2022. During the event, the company as expected by many introduced the iPad Air 2022 to the market. It comes with some very interesting specs like an M1 chip, 5G connectivity, and new gaming capabilities. The company also announces the new iPhone SE 2022 and new Green colour options for the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro on the same stage. Let’s take a look at the details of the new iPad Air from Apple.

Apple iPad Air 2022 Features

Now, Apple iPad Air 5 might just be one of the best tablets to be released this year. The announcement regarding the tablet includes some great specifications and amazing features that really leave us anticipating to get it in our hands.

Design

It features the same 10.9-inch LED-backlit Liquid Retina display with a 2360×1640 pixels resolution. This is the same as the one on the model introduced in 2020. Moreover, iPad Air 2022 comes with a peak brightness of up to 500 nits and carries P3 wide-colour gamut as well as True Tone white balance support. Furthermore, the display also includes an anti-reflective coating on top.

Processor

It runs on the new A15 Bionic chip that gives a 60 per cent better performance as compared to its predecessor, the iPad Air 4, which runs on A14 Bionic. We can expect the graphical performance can be about twice faster than the best Windows laptops in the iPad Air 2022.

Moreover, the new iPad Air also comes with Touch ID support that is integrated into the power/ standby button. Apple has equipped the iPad Air (2022) with the octa-core M1 chip and 8GB of RAM. In addition, the in-house chip is also equipped with Apple Neural Engine for native artificial intelligence (AI) processing.

Camera, Battery

Just like its predecessor, Apple flaunts a 12-megapixel Wide rear camera on the iPad Air (2022) along with an f/1.8 lens. It also comes with a 12-megapixel Ultra Wide front camera that supports machine learning-backed Center Stage. This essentially helps adjust the camera view when using apps including FaceTime. The camera is equipped with an f/2.4 lens that has a 122-degree field of view.

iPad Air 2022 camera features also include Autofocus with Focus Pixels, Panorama (up to 63-megapixel), Smart HDR 3, Photo geotagging, Auto image stabilisation, and Burst mode. Furthermore, it has 4K video recording support at 24, 25, 30, and 60fps frame rates. The camera also has slow-motion video support for 1080p at 120fps or 240fps.

In terms of battery life, Apple claims that the iPad Air (2022) delivers an “all-day battery life”. A 28.6Wh lithium-polymer battery claims to deliver up to 10 hours of Web browsing or video playback on Wi-Fi. The Wi-Fi + Cellular variant, on the other hand, claims to deliver up to nine hours of Web browsing on a single charge.

Apple Pencil Support

Furthermore, the new iPad Air 2022 also has Apple Pencil (2nd generation) support on the new iPad Air. In addition, the device also has support for Magic Keyboard to deliver a notebook-like computing experience. All while using a floating design and built-in trackpad on the detachable keyboard.

iPad Air 2022 Price, Availability

According to the announcement at today’s Apple Event, the Apple iPad Air 5 starts at a very affordable price of just USD 599 (approx. Rs. 46,105). It would be available for pre-order this Friday and will go live for sale on March 18, 2022. Its’ Indian market sale is also on the same day.

It comes in 64GB and 256GB storage variants and Space Grey, Pink, Purple, Blue and Starlight. Interested people can choose from the Wi-Fi only and the Wi-Fi + Cellular models. In India, iPad Air 5 costs Rs. 54,900 for the 64GB Wi-Fi only variant. Whereas, the 256GB Wi-Fi only model retails for Rs. 68,900. However, as of now, we don’t have any confirmation on the price of the Wi-Fi + Cellular model yet.
